I’ve been hibernating for two months… Well, it feels that way anyway! I was itching to get out of Dallas for any weekend trip, and the new opening of the Thompson Washington DC<\/a> was a perfect opportunity to getaway. Our girls weekend wasn’t too crazy… I think we went to bed before midnight each night. That’s when you know you’re getting older, ha. However, we did eat some amazing food and see some really fun stuff!<\/p>\n

If you know me or have followed me for a bit then you know I’m a foodie so most of my trips revolve around food. We only had 48 hours to eat our way through Washington DC, but we made progress. Never underestimate my ability to visit as many restaurants as possible in one city… I definitely don’t miss a meal. Although this week I’ll be doing a lot of intermittent fasting!<\/p>\n

Also, it had been so long I couldn’t remember when I visited Washington DC as a kid. I remember visiting the White House and the national monuments so I wasn’t really that interested in doing it again. We thought about going to see all the monuments in the middle of the night because it’s supposed to be way cooler. However, it was pretty darn cold so we nixed that idea, haha.<\/p>\n

WHERE TO STAY<\/h3>\n

I’ve always been a huge fan of Thompson Hotels. Their vibe and aesthetic always makes me feel right at home because it’s very similar to my own taste. The Thompson Washington DC<\/a> just opened it’s doors in January 2020, and I have to say it doesn’t disappoint! I absolutely loved the decor which gives nod to the nautical theme with subtle hues of blue and little details. Since it’s located in the Navy Yards it makes sense it would have a bit of a ship theme. Honestly, I really really liked that it was located outside of Downtown DC because it’s on the water. Much quieter and a really up-and-coming area!<\/p>\n
